There are some traditions we enjoy so much that we never get tired of repeating them. And one of our favourites at DIME is, without a doubt, going out for a vermut in Spanish with our students!
Today, Friday, we returned to Les Cosines, a small and cosy vermut bar in the Gràcia neighbourhood that we love more every time we visit. The vermut is delicious, the atmosphere is lovely, and the owners always welcome us with a smile and make us feel right at home. What more could we ask for?
As on previous occasions, students from different courses and Spanish levels came together, from beginners to those who already speak the language with confidence. And that's exactly what makes these gatherings so special: people from different countries, with very different stories and experiences, who find a common connection through Spanish.
Over vermut, olives, tapas, and plenty of conversation, we spent a wonderful morning together. We talked about our lives, Barcelona, our home countries, and all sorts of other topics that naturally come up when people gather around a table.
Because practising Spanish outside the classroom is also part of learning. It's about finding the confidence to join a conversation, discovering new expressions, listening to different accents, and, above all, enjoying the language without worrying too much about making mistakes.
But there's something we love even more: seeing how our students gradually get to know one another, build connections, and begin to feel part of a genuine DIME community.
And today, along with the great conversations and laughter, we also had a rather exciting ending! But that's a little story we'll keep between those of us who were there... 😉.
We're already looking forward to doing it again. We take away wonderful memories of a special morning and the satisfaction of knowing that learning Spanish can also be a fantastic excuse to meet new people and enjoy life in Barcelona.
If you'd like to practise Spanish, meet other students, and discover the city in a different way, we'd love you to join our next cultural activities.
See you at the next one!
