Field trip to Ciudadela Park

Excursión al Parque de la Ciudadela

A few days ago, two groups from different levels of our intensive Spanish course were able to enjoy a wonderful excursion to the Parque de la Ciutadela. The students discovered many interesting facts about the park and its surroundings and had the opportunity to meet other students from the school.

The students began the excursion under the Arc de Triomf, one of the most emblematic sites in the city of Barcelona. The monument, built by Josep Vilaseca, was the gateway to the 1888 Barcelona Universal Exposition. It is filled with symbols of respect and represents the city's welcome to the nations and provinces that participated in the exposition.

Before entering the park, the students briefly stopped to observe the four allegorical sculptures that decorate the park's monumental gates. They then visited the spectacular Umbracle, with its tropical and subtropical plants, and the Hivernacle, an incredible modernist building designed by Josep Amargós i Samaranch.

The walk continued along the park's paths, passing by the sculpture honoring the Czech writer and politician Václav Havel, the famous mammoth statue, the pond, and finally the Cascada Monumental.

It was a morning filled with culture and laughter, and we had a great time!
