The gardens and the market of Sant Gervasi

The Friday excursion of our intensive Spanish course

Excursión con los estudiantes en Sarrià

Last Friday, the students from one of our July intensive Spanish courses went on an excursion near the school. They visited the gardens and the market of Sant Gervasi.

The students had to draw a conceptual map of Barcelona before starting the route. Afterwards, they discussed their creations and pointed out which places in the city were the most significant to them. One common feature was that they all marked Diagonal Avenue, so we located the Sant Gervasi neighborhood on it and began our walk through it.

We visited the Galvany Market and three gardens (Moragas, Muñoz Ramonet, and Can Ferrer). The Galvany Market was inaugurated in 1927 and is named after the Count of Galvany, who donated the land for its construction. It is a modernist building that stands out for its use of wrought iron. Currently, it houses more than 70 stalls of food products and other shops as well.
